Newbury Guitar Tech
NGT specialises in contemporary music performance exams, covering both Rockschool and RGT grades from complete beginner to diploma level.
Rockschool was set up in 1991 to bring the best in pop and rock into mainstream education. Rockschool offers fully accredited exams in Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals and Popular Piano.
RGT organises examinations in Electric, Acoustic, Bass and Classical Guitar in partnership with London College of Music Exams (one of the worlds most respected music examination boards, established since 1887) and certified by Thames Valley University.
Though equally accredited, the style of the RGT and Rockschool exams varies slightly and we have found that some students find one or the other more benificial depending on the way they like to learn. We have had significant success with both boards and maintain a 100% pass rate.
Exams provide pressure testing, as well as giving pupils a sense of acheivement and a tangible idea of the level they have reached on their instrument. Attaining grades also aids in future study, as music courses at A-level normally require grade 5 on the students particular instrument and grades 6-8 gain UCAS points.
